About

Cesar Palace Guesthouse

Cesar Palace Guesthouse is a 2-star property on Via Nomentana in Rome's Nomentano district. It keeps things simple: double and triple rooms, a non-smoking building, a lift, free Wi-Fi, parking and a shuttle service. Guest reviews consistently describe it as small, clean and well run.

In brief

What works, what to weigh

Strengths

4 reasons to book
  • Genuinely friendly staff — Reviewers repeatedly mention warm, helpful hosts, from the night receptionist to a team that treated one guest like family rather than a tourist.
  • Clean, comfortable rooms — Guests describe spotless rooms, fresh towels, daily housekeeping and comfortable beds, which is notable at a 2-star price point from £22.
  • Practical location for sightseeing — Termini is a roughly 15-minute walk away, a bus stop is about two minutes from the door, and the guesthouse sits just outside the centro storico, near Porta Pia.
  • Characterful old building — The old lift is mentioned with affection by several guests, giving the stay a little more personality than the average budget property.

Worth weighing

4 to weigh
  • A little outside the historic centre — Some guests found the location a bit off-centre, and the walk from the nearest metro was tiring until they learned the bus routes. Those who used the nearby buses adjusted quickly.
  • Reception hours end at 21:30 — Standard check-in is 13:00 to 21:30. One guest says a late check-in was arranged, but it is not guaranteed, so late arrivals should ask in advance.
  • Breakfast is simple — Breakfast is laid out each morning but not cooked; reviewers describe it as modest, with one noting that coffee and a croissant are normal for Italy at this price.
  • Rooms can look plainer than the photos — A detailed guest review notes the room did not match the online photos, with no patterned walls or bedspreads, although it was still clean and comfortable.

“Comfortable and quiet, and a sensible place to sleep for the price. The location is fine, about a 15-minute walk from the station, though a little outside the centre; there is a very good gelato place on the way.”

7.2Verified guest

“We stayed three nights. The hotel is small but clean, the staff friendly and the location perfect, and Rome itself is stunning.”

7.2Verified guest

“Fair price, spotless room and pleasant staff.”

“I was impressed by the quick replies when I phoned with questions. The team arranged an extra night at a discount and airport transport, and the three staff members were pleasant and always around. The room was clean, the shower spacious with good water temperature and pressure, and the air conditioning was properly cold. Breakfast had a snack and fresh fruit, and you could get it at any time of day. The area was pretty, though until I learned the bus timetables the walk from the nearest metro was hard work; after day one it was fine. For central Rome at this price it was excellent. One note: the room looked plainer than the photos, with no patterned walls or bedspreads, but that did not bother me, and the beds were comfortable. I would recommend it and would stay again.”

“The hosts were exceptionally warm and quick to help, a contrast to most of the budget places we had stayed at around Europe.”

7.2Verified guest

“Clean room, a friendly and helpful night receptionist, handy for Termini, and free in-room internet that was easy to use.”
